Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)
Summary
1995-11-27: When the gear was retracted after takeoff from Montreal, the landing gear intransit warning light remained illuminated. The crew continued to destination at reduced airspeed. During the landing roll, the aircraft came to a stop with the left wing significantly lower than the right wing. Examination of the left landing gear revealed a material failure in the area of the circlip at the bottom of the left landing gear strut cylinder. As a result of the failure, the lower portion of the strut became detached from the strut cylinder and the strut collapsed under the weight of the aircraft. The failed parts have been retained by the TSB for examination. Ops. Impact -- unknown. From a TSB Initial Notification.
