Incident at Timmins, Ontario (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)
Summary
1995-11-13: At approximately 0255Z, all the MACS console lights started to flash randomly while audible alarms were triggered. All MACS functions and selection features were unusable except for two frequencies which had been selected off prior to the occurrence. MACS console failed to respond to all attempts to restore the service. Two aircraft also lost communication with Toronto ACC during the same time frame and one local user said that he had also lost his communications with the outside. All MACS functions and landlines became normal again without any intervention, at approximately 0310Z. Ops. Impact -- all communications were lost except for two frequencies.
