Incident at SAULT STE. MARIE ON (CYAM) (Other operational incident)
Summary
1995-09-20: CDR1945 inbound from CYYZ for runway 29. TGO200, IFR with Toronto ACC. TGO200 cancelled IFR inbound to runway 11 for a flight check. TGO200 did not contact the tower until inside the Gros Cap beacon (less than 4 miles final for runway 11) while CDR1945 is short final and cleared to land on runway 29. TGO200 advised they will break off the approach before the threshold of runway 11. CDR1945 landed runway 29 and exited on taxiway Juliette as TGO200 broke off the approach before the threshold for runway 11. CDR1945 complained that some passengers were shaken; they may have seen TGO200 from taxiway Juliette which is perpendicular to runway 11. Ops. Impact -- unknown.
