Incident at TORONTO / LESTER B. PEARSON INTL ON (CYYZ)
Summary
1995-09-03: Aircraft was being towed to a gate with a single brakeman on board. Smoke was noticed in the cockpit and cabin; ERS was requested. There were no flames visible but the source of the smoke was traced to an area inside the aircraft aft wall of the rear baggage compartment. In this area, there are a number of electronic components controlling the operation of the APU. There was no damage to any of the components however, the insulation was scorched and a plastic drain hose was burnt. Boeing has issued a service bulletin to clamp the wire suspected of causing this problem. Ops. Impact -- unknown.
