Incident at Sudbury, Ontario (14NM southwest) (Other operational incident, Forced landing, ELT)
Summary
1995-07-13: Pilot called Mayday just after lifting off the Big Nickel Mine, stating he had started autorotation procedures -- no further communication. Controller at Sudbury asked assistance from an arriving helicopter (C-GEAM) to locate aircraft. Another Heli-North helicopter (C-FEEN) departs to search as well. C-FEEN located aircraft and spoke with pilot - no apparent injuries or damage. SAR called off as per C-FEEN instructions. Ops. Impact -- none.
