Accident at TORONTO / BUTTONVILLE MUNICIPAL ON (CYKZ)

Summary

1995-01-16: Aircraft inbound to Buttonville Airport when the pilot declared an emergency (no indication of problem). Tower controller assigned C-GPMC runway 33. Aircraft landed short on roof of industrial building. The nose wheel broke off and the aircraft came to a stop on its back. One person on board -- extent of injuries unknown; damage unknown. Ops. impact -- minimal. O.P.I.: PAH, PAR, PAP
1996-05-13: Supplemental information from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A95O0003): As the Cessna 210 was nearing Toronto Buttonville Airport, the pilot announced to Air Traffic Control that he had an emergency and that the engine (Teledyne Continental model 10-520-L) had stopped. While gliding to runway 33, the aircraft struck the roof of an industrial building and came to rest inverted on the roof. The pilot exited the aircraft and was taken to York Central Hospital. The aircraft was on a flight from Chatham Airport (CNZ3) to Toronto (Buttonville) Municipal Airport (CYKZ). Damage -- substantial. One (1) S.O.B. -- serious injuries.
