Incident at Thunder Bay, Ontario

1997-04-01: On climb from Thunder Bay through FL210, the crew of a Canadian Regional F28, C-GTEO, noticed the #1 hydraulic system low quantity light illuminate. The crew elected to return to Thunder Bay. An alternate gear extension was carried out and the aircraft landed without incident. Emergency services were called out. Maintenance found a leaking check valve at the junction coupling (ground servicing pressure port). The same leak had previously been identified - A95C0245. The check valve was repositioned, the hydraulic reservoir was replenished, and the aircraft was returned to service. Maintenance has scheduled the replacement of the junction coupling assembly within the next few days.
