Accident at WOLLASTON LAKE SK (CZWL)
Summary
1997-04-01: The pilot of the Piper Navajo departed Wollaston Lake on a routine medevac flight to LaRonge. Besides the pilot there were 3 passengers on board. A patient, a nurse and the patient's mother. Take off was to the northwest and the aircraft crashed 1/4 of a mile off the end of runway 34 on the lake ice. The ELT was activated. The pilot was seriously hurt and was flown to Saskatoon along with the original patient. Weather at the time was reported as sky clear, visibility 15 miles, winds northwest at 8 to 10 knots. TSB are on the scene.
