Incident at RED LAKE ON (CYRL)


1997-03-27: The pilot of aircraft C-FBXY, a DC3, was inbound Red Lake at 1937Z VFR. The pilot carried out a precautionary right engine shut down due to an apparent oil leak. The aircraft landed safely at 1949Z and required to be towed off the runway at 1955Z. The engine was subsequently checked serviceable. UPDATE: Oil leaking from valve cover, dripped on hot exhaust pipe causing smoke. Aircraft was returned to service following tightening of a valve cover stud which had backed out of the cylinder head.
