Incident at Thompson, Manitoba
Summary
1997-03-27: On landing the left main gear tire blew on TANKER 253, a CL215. Runway 05/23 was closed for 48 minutes while the tire was replaced to permit aircraft to be moved from the runway. UPDATE: The aircraft was landing on Runway 23 with crosswind of 20 KTS from 180 degrees. As no mechanical abnormalities were found, it is suspected that the pilot inadvertently applied brake pressure to counter the effects of the crosswind during landing.
