Incident at Melville, 4 MI E, Saskatchewan
Summary
1997-03-21: The pilot of the Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee, C-FUAG, was conducting low level aerial application operations when upon nearing a large water-covered area of the field, several large ducks flew up. Two birds were struck by the right wing of the aircraft and penetrated the leading edge. The pilot diverted to a nearby airport and conducted a precautionary landing. Inspection revealed substantial damage to the leading edge and internal wing ribs of the right wing. Aircraft landing or taxi lights were not illuminated at the time of the occurrence.
