Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)
Summary
1997-03-21: After company maintenance rectified the fire warning problem, KFA277 B727 departed Winnipeg enroute Vancouver, again with a crew of 4 on board. Fifty miles west of Winnipeg, the crew advised ATC that the aircraft had developed hydraulic problems and reported that they were returning to Winnipeg. Fuel dumping was initiated 30 miles west. The aircraft landed on Rwy 18 at 1247Z without further incident. However, the aircraft had to be towed to the ramp area. Both of these occurrences were given major standby status. Maintenance inspection revealed a loose "B" nut on the "A" hydraulic system pressure module No. 1 pump pressure line. The line was repaired, system contamination checks completed and the aircraft was returned to service.
