at Prince Albert, Sask.
Summary
1997-03-21: Tanker 5, a Grumman 89 Tracker, departed Prince Albert on a local test flight. Moments after take-off, the pilot noticed that the fire warning light had illuminated on the right engine. Because of visible smoke and smell in the cockpit, the pilot shut the engine down and discharged the fire extinguisher. The aircraft returned and landed safety at Prince Albert. ERS were advised. There was no damage to the aircraft and the pilot was uninjured. Maintenance suspect an electrical malfunction which caused a short in the system.
