Incident at Vicinity Saskatoon, Sask.


1997-03-21: ABL654 DH8 lost engine due low oil pressure and declared an emergency 20SW of Saskatoon. Aircraft was vectored to and landed safely at Saskatoon at 0248Z. Update: Maintenance personnel discovered that a fitting had stripped and blown out of the end of the engine (PW123) oil pressure regulator, causing a loss of engine oil. The engine oil pressure regulator was replaced and the aircraft was put back into service. The fitting is currently being examined by the manufacturer, Pratt & Whitney, and the company will be issuing an SDR to Transport Canada.
