Incident at 60 Miles East of Winnipeg, Man

Summary

1997-03-21: The crew of Transport 975 reported smoke in the cockpit 60 miles east of Winnipeg while enroute Thunder Bay. The crew returned to Winnipeg and did a low and over the airport so that ground personnel could determine whether or not the gear was down. While the crew were circling north of the city in preparation for landing the left lip boot switch was turned on and off. This action restored normal gear indications. The aircraft was landed safely without further incident - CFR responded. Transport maintenance personnel are tracking this electrical problem at this time.
