Accident at Paungassi Lake, Manitoba

1996-05-10: The Cessna 206, C-GMJP, was on a charter flight to Paungassi Lake, Manitoba. The pilot landed the wheel equipped aircraft on the winter road crossing the lake to deplane two passengers and cargo. He landed on the road in snowy conditions under a low overcast and did not notice about six inches of snow cover. After landing the pilot realized that the section of the road he was on was not adequately cleared. As he taxiied to a section reported to be clear the landing gear struck a windrow of snow. The aircraft nosed over, struck the prop on the ice and then fell back. There was substantial damage to the propeller and possible damage to the aft section of the aircraft. There were no injuries.
