Incident at Gander Lake, near Gander Nfld.

Summary

1997-03-18: The aircraft was on a training flight and had just completed a water pick-up when the check pilot simulated a left engine failure. The co-pilot jettisoned the load by using the emergency dump procedure, however the right bomber door contacted the surface of the lake bending the middle and rear hinges. The aircraft returned to Gander airport for maintenance inspection and landed without further incident. TSB case closed.
