Incident at Gander, Nfld.
Summary
1996-05-21: Aircraft departed from Gander to Portland, Me. Immediately after departure the pilot advised that he could not retract his landing gear.Pilot requested a fly-by the tower, gear confirmed extended. Aircraft continued enroute and advised that he would attempt to retract gear while enroute. TSB evaluating. UPDATE - The pilot did a touch and go at Stephenville and attempted another gear retraction. When the gear remained extended he landed the aircraft and had it refuelled. He observed that components of the left main gear retract mechanism were corroded and he suspected this to contribute to the problem. He said he would continue the flight to Portland with the gear extended. TSB case closed.
