Incident at Cambridge Bay, NWT

Summary

1997-08-01: CDN 447 made a turn through approx. 14 degrees to the left with their starboard engine shut down. A/C had almost come to a complete stop as power on the port engine was applied to complete the left turn. A very high power use was observed. Dust and rocks up to 15 feet into the air extended to Firstair 9863 (A748) parked at the pumps. FAB9863 took superficial rock damage along the port side of the aircraft. Rocks were blown into the cabin through the aft door. Both propellers turned. Rocks were found in both engines.
