Incident at Bittern Lake

Summary

1996-10-25: THE A/C TOUCHED DOWN 20 FEET SHORT OF THE 800 FOOT LONG STRIP. UPON TOUCHDOWN THE MAIN WHEELS SUNK INTO A SOFT AREA WITH LONG GRASS WHICH SPUN THE AIRCRAFT AROUND, KNOCKING OFF ONE OF THE MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE A/C WENT UP ONTO IT'S NOSE AND BENT BOTH PROPELLER BLADES. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO USE ALL THE AVAILABLE AREA.
