Summary

1996-02-20: PILOT WAS DEPARTING A SEISMIC ROAD WITH APPROX. 400 FT OF AVAILABLE SURFACE TO CONDUCT SOLO CIRCUITS. AFTER AN EXTENDED GROUND RUN PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CLIMB RAPIDLY TO CLEAR A BLDG AND AN ANTENNA. A/C ENTERED THE BACK SIDE OF THE POWER CURVE AND BEGAN TO DESCEND. REDUCED POWER AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND IN A NEARBY SMALL CLEARING. MAIN ROTOR STRUCK TREES AFTER TOUCHDOWN AND A/C ROLLED ON ITS SIDE. NO INJURIES.
