Summary

1996-02-15: FOLLOWING LANDING, BEFORE REACHING THE GATE, THE CREW STARTED THE APU. ATC REPORTED FLAME AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAIL. ERS STANDBY AND CREW TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF THE GATE. EXAMINATION REVEALED APU HAD BEN COLD SOAKED AND WAS SLOW TO START, RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE FUEL DURING THE APU START. A/C TAXIED TO GATE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
