Accident at 24 mn. E La Grande, QUE

Summary

1997-08-05: The La Grande FSS reported a ELT signal on 243 Mhz. The control center in Montreal asked RRR9494, a seaplane that was flying over La Grande, if it heard the ELT signal. The RRR9494 pilot confirmed the collision between 2 Tornados and observed a parachute. Also, the pilot indicated that one if the two planes asked to be sent to the closest airport. Aircraft, RRR9687, was athorized to approach La Grande where he landed at 2300Z. The runway was closed for indeterminate period of time due to fuel contamination during landing. The two crew members of RR9688 were found by SAR.
