Incident at Ervyn Intersection


1997-09-29: The aircraft had been cleared to 17,000 feet to cross ERVYN at 15,000 or above. The aircraft was RADAR detected at ERVYN climbing through 11,100 feet. The pilot explained when questioned that "we're providing our own terrain clearance". ACC is investigating; tapes have been secured.
