Accident at Keary Lake

Summary

1997-09-29: The pilot was attempting a landing on a small lake near dusk. As he crossed the shoreline he lost visual reference due to glassy water and poor light conditions. By reference to the near shore he decided that he was too high and increased his descend rate. The aircraft struck the water hard causing the front struts to buckle and the prop to strike the floats. The pilot was not injured and was able to paddle the substantially damaged aircraft to shore.
