Incident at Stewart

Summary

1997-03-26: The helicopter was responding to an aircraft accident on the Frank Mackie Glacier in a rescue role. While attempting to land, the pilot lost visual reference in white-out conditions. The helicopter struck the snow in a nose-high, left side low attitude. It continued airborne for a short distance and settled in the snow in a level attitude. The helicopter sustained minor damage to the left sponson and landing light. There were no injuries.
