Accident at Long Island, Alaska (Forced landing)
Summary
1997-03-06: A "MAYDAY" message from an American helicopter was relayed by Cessna 206 N8796Q to the Prince Rupert FSS. Prince Rupert co-ordinated with Ketchikan FSS, Vancouver ACC and RCC. The a/c was found on the beach on Long Island where the pilot successfully force-landed it. There were no injuries, however, the a/c sustained damage to the tailrotor. The FAA is investigating.
