Incident at TORONTO / BILLY BISHOP TORONTO CITY AIRPORT ON (CYTZ)

Summary

1997-09-25: The instructor and student were practising cross-wind landings on runway 24. During one landing, a gust of wind caused the left wing tip to contact the runway, scraping the epoxy from part of the tip and the corner of the aileron. Winds at the time were from 200 degrees at 10 knots and the aircraft has a cross-wind landing limitation of 15 knots at 90 degrees. Maintenance removed the aileron and wing tip for repair and replaced them. The aircraft was returned to service. Ops. Impact -- unknonw. From a TSB Initial Notification.
