Incident at Norfolk, Virginia


1997-03-06: In cruise, the lower aft cargo fire warning activated. The flight crew followed procedures and used both fire extinguisher bottles. The warning stopped after the bottles were used. The aircraft landed at Norfolk, Virginia with ERS standing by. No trace of fire was found. Maintenance replaced the four fire detectors and the amplifier as a precaution.
