Incident at St. Catherines
Summary
1997-02-14: A group of five persons was observed on the apron in front of the terminal building beside aircraft FYTE. A woman was observed to be smoking. Flight Service called the flying club to request someone go over to ask her to extinguish the cigarette, but a minute later, the smoker and one other got in the aircraft and taxied onto Bravo taxiway. Flight Service called the aircraft who was still in motion towards runway 06/24. Pilot's response to the initial call was their intentions. After giving the advisory, Flight Service informed the pilot of the requirement to call prior to entering the manoeuvering area, and that smoking on the apron was not permitted. Ops. Impact -- unknown.
