Incident at NORTH BAY ON (CYYB)

Summary

1996-03-07: THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AFTER THE INTERIOR LIGHTS MALFUNCTIONED AND THE FUEL TANKS SHOWED EMPTY. THE PILOT HAD MISSED ONE APPROACH AT NORTH BAY, REQUESTED SUDBURY, REALIZED THE PROBLEM (WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS 15 MILES NORTHWEST OF NORTH BAY) AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. THE PILOT MISSED THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND LANDED ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT. THE AIRCRAFT BROKE OUT ABOUT 200 FEET AGL. ERS STOOD BY FOR THE LANDING ON RUNWAY 08. OPS. IMPACT -- ONE AIRCRAFT (AIR ONTARIO) WAS DELAYED 20 MINUTES.
