Accident at Penetangiushene

Summary

1996-02-20: THE PILOT WAS TAXIING THE SKI-EQUIPPED HOME-BUILT OVER A SNOW AND ICE COVERED AREA TO DEPART FROM THE PRIVATE FARM AIR STRIP. AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN, A CROSS WIND CONTINUED TO PUSH THE AIRCRAFT IN THE DIRECTION OF THE TURN. THE PILOT APPLIED POWER IN AN ATTEMPT TO CONTROL THE TURN, BUT THE TURN CONTINUED SO THE THROTTLE WAS CLOSED. ONE WING TIP OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A TREE AND THE OTHER WING TIP STRUCK THE AIRCRAFT'S HANGAR. ONE (1) S.O.B. -- NO INJURIES. TSB initial notification.
