Summary
1996-01-25: The Air Ontario aircraft (operating as ONT294) was on an IFR flight from Sault Ste. Marie Airport (CYAM) to Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ). The Simo Air aircraft (operating as CMO004) was on a VFR flight from Sault Ste. Marie Airport (CYAM) to Elliot Lake Municipal Airport (CYEL). ONT294 departed runway 29 and commenced a right turn to 060º early to avoid conflict with CMO004 departing off runway 22 in a right turn to Elliot Lake. The two aircraft allegedly came within 800 feet vertically of each another. Weather at the time was VMC. Ops. impact -- unknown.
