Incident at THOMPSON MB (CYTH)

Summary

1996-01-18: The pilot of C-GTQR a Twin Engine Piper Navajo declared an emergency due to smoke in the cabin. The landing was uneventful, however the final approach was a bit unusual. Insofar as the aircraft landed over top of C-GWKA an SW2 Swearingen. C-GWKA had been positioned on the button of 050 while the crew were attempting to recitify a radio problem. Both aircraft had D.O.T. Air Carrier Inspectors on board who were conducting or attempting to conduct PPC-PPC/IRT rides at Thompson.
