Accident at Milden vicinity

Summary

1997-10-24: The Schleicher KA7 Glider, C-GGHL, was being launched by cable tow from a private strip 10 NM north of Milden, Saskatchewan. As the aircraft reached 300 feet AGL, the pilot noted that the airspeed had reached 70 MPH, the maximum allowed for cable launches. The pilot released the tow cable and landed straight ahead on the remaining portion of the airstrip. The glider landed toward the end of the strip and on roll-out, the right wing struck a tree. The pilot, the sole occupant was not injured. The glider sustained substantial damage.
