Accident at La Ronge


1997-10-15: The pilot, sole occupant of a Cessna 185 aircraft, C-GSPK, landed the aircraft on runway 35, La Ronge. After touchdown, during the rollout phase of the landing, the pilot applied brakes to slow the aircraft. Almost immediately, the aircraft commenced an arcing right turn. The pilot applied left rudder and brakes, but did not regain control of the aircraft before it departed from the runway surface. The left main wheel contacted gravel and the left main landing gear failed when the aircraft skidded off the right side of the runway surface. The pilot suffered a minor injury. The aircraft incurred substantial damage.
