Incident at Regina, SASK (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)

Summary

1997-10-15: Air Canada 103, An Airbus A320-211, was on final approach to runway 31 at Regina, Saskatchewan when the captain heard a radio instruction to "Pull up". The crew carried out a missed approach procedure and returned and landed on runway 31 without further incident. No passengers or crew were injured and no damage occurred. The captain had both tower and company radio frequencies selected. The first officer had only tower frequency selected. It was determined that the passenger agent had transmitted "Flight 103", are you around" on the company dispatch radio. The company has taken steps to limit access to the company dispatch radio to prevent a recurrence.
