Incident at Norway House, MAN

Summary

1997-09-29: Perimeter Airlines flight 106, a Swearingen Metro aircraft on a scheduled IFR flight to Winnipeg, Manitoba, departed Norway House at 1437Z. Immediately after take-off, the pilot advised Thompson FSS that he was returning to Norway House. Thompson FSS requested the nature of the problem, and the pilot declined to answer over the radio, and indicated that he would explain once on the ground. The aircraft landed at Norway House at 1441Z. Once on the ground, FSS asked if the problem was mechanical, and the pilot replied that it was, but declined further comment. Thompson FSS was not able to ascertain exactly what the problem was, and treated the situation as an emergency. At the time of this report, the exact nature of the emergency had not been determined.
