Accident at Falcon Lake, ONT
Summary
1997-09-18: While taxiing on the water, the pilot of a float equipped J3 Cub attempted to turn the aircraft out of the wind to get back to the dock. The right float dug into a heavy swell and the aircraft nosed forward. The pilot and passenger exited the aircraft and clung to it. Approximately five minutes later the aircraft rolled onto its back and the pilot and passenger climbed onto the floats to await rescue. They were picked up a short time later by a passing boater. Life jackets were onboard the aircraft but were not used or taken from the aircraft before it submerged.
