Accident at Pinawa, MAN

Summary

1997-08-01: The aircraft was positioned for take-off in the vicinity of the Pinawa bridge. The pilot completed the engine runup and pre-flight checks and applied power to begin the takeoff run. The aircraft was reported to be lightly loaded and during the takeoff run a gust of wind caused it to become airborne early. the aircraft descended back onto the surface of the river and the right float tip dug into the water. The aircraft then nosed over on its back and came to rest in an inverted attitude. The pilot was not injured.
