Incident at CDA5

Summary

1997-03-07: An Alon Inc. Aircoupe aircraft departed runway 36L. The aircraft climbed to approximately 10 feet, then descended and struck the ground, and then bounced back into the air. When the aircraft was approximately 500 feet AGL, the pilot reported that he had lost the canopy, and requested to land - the canopy had "popped off" when the aircraft struck the ground. The canopy landed at the intersection of runway 36L and Echo taxiway. The aircraft landed without further incident, and the runway was closed for approximately 10 minutes. One aircraft on approach was pulled up.
