Accident at Thompson, Manitoba
Summary
1997-02-12: The Swearingen Merlin aircraft was returning to Thompson having earlier performed a Medevac flight from Coral Harbour, NWT, to Churchill, Manitoba, with two crew and a nurse on board. The arrival advisory was given by Thompson FSS and shortly after contact was lost. The aircraft crash site was located at the "Hotel" marker beacon, 4 miles northeast of the airport. Both crew members were killed and the one passenger on board was severely injured. Weather at 0500Z was given as: YTH 0500Z SA E12 BKN 80 BKN 15 227/11/10/0000/017/SC6AC1 Weather at 0529Z was observed as: 2 BKN- M10 BKN 4F
