Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG) (ATM - operations)

Summary

1996-10-29: St. Andrews Tower was evacuated due to damage caused by severe thunderstorm activity. Due to the tower cab evacuation, services were being provided from a standby tower facility at the DF site and limited control was provided. ATC personnel later moved to the old tower at the south-west end of the airport, where standby equipment is still being used to provide service. Contractors have been attempting to repair the tower facility, but wet weather has been hampering efforts.
