Incident at Atikokan, Ontario
Summary
1996-03-07: The DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver aircraft was starting its take-off roll on runway 04 at Atikokan, Ontario, for a charter freight flight to Lac la Croix, Ontario. After the pilot advanced the power for take-off, the aircraft veered to the left. The right wheel-ski struck the vasis transmitter located beside the runway. The aircraft came to rest when the left wing struck a gravel embankment about 300 feet from the runway. The weather was reported to be clear, with winds out of the northeast at five knots.
