Incident at 20 NE Pickle Lake

Summary

1996-02-02: Aircraft departed Pickle Lake north-east bound at 0050Z. At approximately 0105Z, pilot reported an aircraft 1/2 mile off his wing, just below at 7500ft. He then reported that it was not an aircraft, but something bowl-shaped, brown and orange with dark spots in the center. The object moved to become level with the aircraft, and keeping pace. The pilot changed his course, and so did the object. The object came within 300 metres. The pilot resumed his original heading of 073 degrees, and the object followed. The object was described as having a curved top and bottom sloping to a rim. The object then dropped back and dived to the ground. The pilot reported that the object was no longer in sight. The pilot was alone and shaken, no other witnesses. A CIRVIS report was submitted.
