Accident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)

Summary

1997-10-22: At 1942 GFNA was departing runway 31 via a tow rope. The tow rope broke and the pilot tried to slide slip the aircraft to land on the remaining runway. He landed hard, veered off the runway and came to rest against the perimeter fence. Gander ERS responded and the pilot and passenger were transported to the hospital with possible back problems. 103 Squadron in Gander will investigate and report their findings to TSB when the investigation is completed.
