Incident at Gander Oceanic


1997-09-26: ACA871 departed Charles de Gaulle enroute Mirabel routing in part 49W/40W (1346Z) 48W/50W (1435Z) St. John's at FL370. At 1406z position 4843N/4344W, ACA871 reported power loss number 1 engine and requested descent to FL270. ACA advised of traffic DAL107 FL330 49N/40W at 1342Z and AZA656 FL310 49N/40W at 1343Z. ACA871 proceeded north of cleared track by 30 miles, declared "PAN PAN" and decended to FL290. Upon reaching FL290 flight was cleared direct St. John's. ACA871 later received clearance to Halifax, awaiting release from company to proceed to Mirabel.
