Incident at near Goose Bay, Labrador

Summary

1997-08-20: The aircraft was on a VFR flight from Goose Bay to lakes in the north. Thirty five minutes after departure, the pilot radioed that he was having engine problems and was going to land at the headwaters of Grand Lake (approx. 35 miles North of Goose Bay). Shortly thereafter, he advised the engine was running a little better and he was going to get as close to Northwest River as possible. Twenty minutes later, he advised that he had landed on Lake Melville and that he needed a tow to shore. No injuries, no damage. TSB evaluating.
