Incident at 17 miles NE Deer Lake, NFLD
Summary
1998-11-13: The helicopter had been parked outside overnight in heavy rain conditions. The next morning during a local flight, abnormal vibrations developed and intensified. The pilot carried out a precautionary landing in a bog. The pilot observed that a piece of fibreglass had separated from one of the main rotor blade tips. The pilot was uninjured and was flown back to his camp by an RCMP helicopter. Maintenance determined that the blade could be taped and ferried to a maintenance facility for permanent repair.
