Incident at OTTAWA

Summary

1993-12-27: B737 CDN C-GMCP WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT THE #1 BUS LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING LOSS OF POWER TO THE #1 BUS. THE APU WAS STARTED AND POWER WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE #1 BUS FROM THE APU GENERATOR. LATER THE #2 CONSTANT SPEED DRIVE UNIT FAIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE CSD DISCONNECTED. THE #2 GENERATOR WAS THUS INOPERATIVE WITH ONLY THE APU GENERATOR POWER AVAILABLE. THE CREW REQUESTED PRIORITY LANDING AT OTTAWA. MAINTENANCE REPLACED THE #1 GENERATOR CONTROL UNIT. THE #2 CSD WAS REPLACED AFTER THE RETURN FLIGHT TO CALGARY. THE A/C WAS OPERATING ON MEL 224-1 ON THE RETURN FLIGHT. FROM A TSB INITIAL NOTIFICATION. TIME = 1900Z. ACTION = PAX PAH PAE PARXDA.
